Beaches

Cornwall boasts hundreds of beaches, and you’ll find Pentewan, Porthpean, Duporth, Charlestown, Carlyon Bay, Polstreath, Portmellon, Gorran Haven, Vault, Hemmick, Caerhays / Porthluney, Portholland, Par and Polkerris beaches are less than 20 minutes away from River Valley by car.

South West Coast path

Cornwall boasts over a 300-mile section of the famous South West Coast Path. The pathoffers something for everyone, providing access to some of Cornwall's most spectacularscenery while also offering opportunities to experience and learn about wildlife, history,geology, culture, and industry.You can access the SW Coast Path on the south Cornish coast from Pentewan which is ashort stroll from us at River Valley.

If you are looking for things to do during your holiday at River Valley, Cornwall has a wonderful array of family attractions to keep you entertained. Whether it’s the awe-inspiring Eden Project, discovering the Lost Gardens of Heligan, taking the plunge at Adrenalin Quarry or Hangloose, trying your hand at football golf, taking in a theme park at Camel Creek or meeting animals at Newquay Zoo. There’s something for everyone.

Gardens & Heritage

You can learn more about Cornwall’s rich industrial and cultural heritage at several museums and attractions across Cornwall. The National Maritime Museum, Falmouth, Wheal Martyn and Royal Cornwall Museum and more are well worth a visit.

If you love exploring gardens, Cornwall is blessed with many, they include The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trebah, Trewidden and Pinetum Gardens to name but a few.

There are also National Trust properties and gardens such as Lanhydrock, Trelissick and St Michael’s Mount and English Heritage properties include Pendennis, St Mawes and Lostwithiel Castles.

Cycling

Get on your bike and enjoy the many cycle trails and routes that Cornwall has to offer. River Valley is just off the Pentewan Valley Trail and you’ll find further off-road traffic-free cycle trails to explore at the Camel Trail, Bissoe Trail, Cardinham Woods, Lanhydrock and Goss Moor Trail. If you haven’t got your bikes with you, there are plenty of bike hire opportunities locally.

If you are looking for unique shopping opportunities, then you’ll be spoiled for choice on a holiday in Cornwall. You’ll find local artists and artisan makers selling their creations plus a myriad of other independent retailers when you visit the many towns and villages in the county.

Food & Drink

Cornwall is rightly renowned as one of the foodie capitals in the UK. The gentle climate allows Cornish farmers to grow a wide range of fruit, vegetables and crops, in many cases year-round. There’s a host of wonderful cafés, restaurants and pubs dotted around the county. Conveniently, you’ll find Trevithick & Trays Farm Shop & Café next door to us at River Valley so you can buy Cornish produce to enjoy during your stay and take home with you.
