Access Statement - River Valley Holiday Park

We do our best to make sure that all our visitors are able to enjoy their visit to River Valley Holiday Park. So, we’re delighted to offer the assistance and advice you need before and during your stay.

We’re always making improvements to our accessibility provision. Our current services and facilities are:

Pre Arrival

We cater for Tents, Caravans and Motorhomes. Our website contains extensive details and photographs of the Park and its facilities as well as information about the local area. You can check availability and pricing in real-time via the website and book directly on-line. We provide clear and easy links to call us direct if you are browsing using a mobile phone.

Because we want you to be able to contact us at your convenience, we accept enquiries and booking requests by email, online from our website, or by telephone.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

We have a wide entrance where new arrivals may park while booking in. Once booked in guests are free to park on their pitch next to their caravan or tent or in the allocated parking areas for the static caravans. Visitors must report to reception where they will receive a key for temporary access.

Access to Reception and the Shop is paved and level with a small kerb at the door.

Main Entrance and Reception / Shop

Reception and the Shop are at the Park Entrance. The entrance to Reception and the shop is 90cm wide.

There is not room for a large wheelchair or mobility scooter to manoeuvre through the door or into the Shop, but staff are happy to offer assistance when required.

Touring Facilities

The park is level grass with a tarmac access road. You may park your vehicle next to your caravan / tent.

All pitches have electric hookups available.

There are public washing up sinks and 1 sink in the laundry.

Waste water disposal points are situated throughout the touring field. The chemical toilet disposal point is situated at the shower block and is away from accommodation areas.

General Waste disposal receptacles are situated around the park. We ask our guests to recycle and the required bins for Glass, Paper, Cardboard, Cans & Plastic Bottles are situated next to the amenity block.

There are fire points with water and powder fire extinguishers and alarm on site.

Pitches are pre-allocated but if you have particular requirements please advise us at the time of booking so that we are able to offer this. We’re happy to advise you.

Static caravans

Our static caravans are all 6 years or younger and are either 4 or 6 berth.  All caravans have 3 steps to the entrance with a handrail attached. Parking for the static caravans is in areas around the holiday park.  Not next to the caravan.

Public Areas – General

The Park is situated on a level field with hard standing gravel pitches. Our park opens directly on to Pentewan Cycle Trail, so you may access the beach without needing transport. Access the Trail via a gate approx 110cm wide. The Trail is a very gentle slope and is well maintained. It is easily walked with a pushchair or buggy, but the distance to the beach (2.6m) may be too far for wheelchair users.

Tarmac roads are at the entrance and outside our Reception and amenity areas. Our field also has a tarmac road.

Picnic benches are outside every caravan. A washing up area is adjacent to the laundry room.

Public Areas – WC

River Valley has one toilet/shower block, which is centrally located close to the park entrance. Access to the Ladies toilets and showers is paved and level and has a dedicated entrance. There are private washrooms, WCs and showers, as well as public hand basin. A hairdryer and hand-dryer are provided. For comfort, our toilet/shower block is comfortably heated in the colder months.

The Gentlemen’s toilets and showers has a level entrance and has public hand basins, urinal, WCs and showers. Hairdryer, hand-dryer and shaver points are provided.

There is a separate fully accessible family bathroom with WC (50cm high), washbasin, shower and a low-level drier. The entrance is 85cm wide and has level paved access.

Laundry

There is one small step at the entrance to the laundry. Laundry services include 2 top loading automatic washing machines, two front loading tumble driers, a small spin dryer, a hand washing sink and irons and ironing boards.

Surrounding Area

River Valley is in a rural setting less than 3 miles from the nearest beach. The Park has direct access to a Cycle Trail which is a 2.6m distance from the beach. The route is reasonably level and well maintained and the beach has fully accessible facilities.

The surrounding area is hilly and steep gradients are encountered in most areas.

River Valley is close to many beaches locally, all have very different access provisions. We’re always happy to advise you – or please take a look at our Beach Guide, which provides full descriptions.

Mobile telephone coverage is generally very good around the park, but the Park has a Wifi connection. Wifi may be slow at peak times and is not sufficient for streaming.

A regular public bus service leaves from directly outside the Park. It is a 15-minute journey to St Austell train station, which is fully accessible and staffed between 8am and 7pm. Mevagissey is also a 15-minute direct journey by bus. This is a harbour town with narrow streets and a choice of accessible cafes and pubs. The public WCs are accessible.

Our website and Marketing

We alt-tag our images on our website and social media so the detail and content of the pictures we use are clear if you are visually impaired. We review all of our copy so it conforms to Plain English standards of readability. And the links we invite our users to engage with provide additional content that we believe to be useful, not repeating what has already been read.

Our Marketing is designed to inform decisions about a holiday here not to make potential guests feel pressured into a booking, so we do not engage in misleading click-bait or time-pressured content and offers requiring immediate response.

A small brochure can be downloaded from the website (PDF format) here. The digital version is easily enlarged to be large print. We are happy to answer any questions over the phone or talk you through its content if you are hard of hearing or visually impaired.

We’re happy to help so if you have any questions at all about this Access Statement, or if you would like to talk us through your requirements or concerns before a visit please get in touch. Here is our quick email link.
